This page should get you connected to Vickies-Lighthouse at Starchat, using a pc. Download StarPIRCH First, you will need to download StarPIRCH, from here, Or go to Starchat, and look for the link to StarPIRCH, on the left side of the page. After it's downloaded, goto your desktop, or wherever you downloaded to, and click the icon to install. After you have it installed, come back to this page for the next step. Set-Up Keep this window open, so you can toggle back and forth while setting up your connection.. You should now have an icon on your desktop for StarPIRCH. Click it, and open... You will now see the "Server Connection" window. In the "Server Connection" window, under "Personal Information", NOTE: Read these intructions, then study the example below, then read instructions again. 1...In the "Name" field, type in your Name. I use GART instead of my real name. 2...In the "Username" field, type your true email address. You can't use a yahoo, or hotmail address. It has to be the username you use at your ISP, such as me@msn.com or me@sbcglobal.com etc... 3...Under "LOGON NICK NAMES", type in the nick you want to use, in the "Nickname" field. You might want to use caps here, since we use caps to chat. Mine is GART 4...In the "Alternate field, type a second choice for a nick. I use GART* 5...In the "Password" field, type your password, if you are registered with starchat. IF you are NOT registered, leave the password field blank. 6...CONNECT ...Click on "Connect" -- Example -- Register 1...A new window will open, with a chat interface, where you can communicate with servers. you will be communicating with "NickServ". So, copy this message for nickserv: 2...Paste into the text-box, at the bottom of the chat interface, and DO NOT hit Enter yet. 3...Next, delete "[create your own password here]", and type in the permanant password you want to use from now on. 4...Next, delete "[your E-mail address here]" and type in your complete email address. The same one you used at the beginning of setup. 5...MAKE SURE, you have a space berfore you email address, and another space before your password. Example: 6...Hit your "ENTER" key 7...NickServ will tell you an activation key has been emailed to you. 8...Open a new window, and goto your email and copy the activation key, "/msg NickServ ACTIVATE 0000" (Yours will have a real number) 9...Come back to the Pirch98 window, and paste in the activation key. 10...You should now be registered, and Nickserv will tell you, and welcome you. Find A Channel 1...Now, you should see a new window, and the chat screen will show you are connected. A popup will ask for your password. Just click on cancel this time. 2...Up in the toolbar, click on "Favorites" 3...In the new window, click on "Favorites to highglight, then click on the 3rd icon, to add a favorite channel. 4...In "Server Properties", type in "Vickies-Lighthouse" , without the parinthisies. Then click OK. 5...Now, in "Favorite Places", click on "Vickies-Lighthouse" to highlight, and click on the 5th icon, to JOIN. 6...You should now be connected to Vickies-Lighthouse. You can now close the "Favorite Places" window. To LogOut: In the toolbar, click on "IRC", then "EXIT". POOF! Yer gone!
